In case you missed it, many of Hollywood’s black heavyweights gathered in Harlem’s historic Riverside Church yesterday in honor of Martin Luther Kind Day. Ryan Coogler, who is the director of Fruitvale Station and Creed organized the event through his activist collective, Black Out for Human Rights. The event was a beauty to watch as the day  featured some big name musicians and actors, reciting speeches from Civil Rights Heroes. In the wake of black creatives being shut out of the Oscars, Black Excellence was on full display on MLK Day. J Cole was even put on the spot about his surprise marriage in the video.
