Yes folks you read that correctly. Someone actually chose Cleveland. Andrew Bogut, the high demand center was traded from the Dallas Mavericks to the Philadelphia 76’ers in a deal involving Nerlens Noel. He reached a buyout agreement with the Sixers, making him eligible to sign elsewhere for the playoffs. The Houston Rockets, Boston Celtics, San Antonio Spurs all showed interest but ultimately it was the Cleveland Cavaliers that Bogut chose to sign with.

In what has been a failed contract year in Dallas with Dirk Nowitzki, Bogut now has an opportunity to change a negative and injury plagued narrative into a positive by getting quality minutes for a contender. He also comes equipped with Golden State secrets, similar to how Anderson Varejao came with Cleveland inside knowledge after opting to sign with Cleveland’s arch rival, the Golden State Warriors late last season.

When asked as to why he chose Cleveland, Bogut told his agent that,

“Cleveland just feels right”~Andrew Bogut

In offering more insight on the 7 footer’s decision, his agent, David Bauman suggested that “It was a lot closer than Andrew thought ‎going into the process. As of this morning he wasn’t sure what to do. He had a great talk last night, for example, with (Celtics coach) Brad Stevens.”

The Cavs latest acquisitions shows how the rich just gets richer as Cavs GM, David Griffin has managed to bolster the team’s roster quite impressively within the last month or so by adding swingman, Derrick Williams, Kyle Kover via trade, Deron Williams and now Andrew Bogut off waivers. Bogut is expected to give the Cavs more size down low and add a defensive presence in the middle. He is expected to officially sign on Wednesday.
